Focused on creating beauty and the needs of anxious adults, Dr. Cahill practices patient-friendly dentistry thanks to her blend of poise, polish, kindness, and quality. She combines exceptional training with the advanced technologies at Shelby Dental Care Center.
Dr. Cahill earned her degree from Dalhousie University School of Dentistry in Canada. She then served seven years with the Canadian Department of National Defense, practicing general dentistry with an emphasis on complete oral rehabilitation.
Dr. Cahill is a member of the Isothermal Dental Society, North Carolina Dental Society, American Dental Association, and Pinnacle Classical Academy School Board. She completed advanced courses in dental prosthodontics, oral surgery, and orthodontics. Dr. Cahill continues to participate in technology-oriented continuing education classes.
She and her husband, Dr. Calvin Caunt of Atrium Health, have one son, Benjamin Dash. She enjoys the company of her cats, gardening, travel, and coaching the Award Winning Pi Rho Eagles Robotics Club. Other special interests include public education, historic restoration, Shelby City Park, and “Keep Shelby Beautiful.” Also, be sure to ask her about her impressive sandcastle skills!

With an easy smile, warm personality, and a commitment to excellence, Dr. Young soothes and comforts even his most anxious patients. His superior training and experience make him a master of the science and art of smiles.
Dr. Young holds an honors degree in biology from Belmont Abbey College and graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill School of Dentistry. He has earned prestigious awards, including “Outstanding Achievement in Oral Diagnosis.”
Dr. Young is a former clinical instructor at the UNC School of Dentistry. He even wrote the book on dentistry—in a manner of speaking—as he co-authored a book to aid dental students during their clinical rotations.
Outside the office, Dr. Young enjoys spending time with his wife, Vanne, and two sons, Josh and Reid. He is involved with local organizations, such as the United Way and Meals on Wheels. He enjoys cooking, hiking and other outdoor recreation, and travel.

Associate / Working Together Toward A Healthy Smile
Striving for excellence and superior care, Dr. Caple combines his leadership and dentistry skills to help patients realize their best smiles.
Dr. Caple graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill School of Dentistry and is a member of the American Dental Association and the North Carolina Dental Society. He received his undergraduate degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point, and spent six years as an officer in the US Army, where he was deployed to Iraq as a platoon leader in 2009.
Outside the office, Dr. Caple spends most of his time with his two children, Atlas and Ellie. He also enjoys working out, golfing with his brothers, landscaping, and spending time with family.
Associate / Quality With A Gentle Touch
A favorite among children thanks to her kind manner, easy laugh, and gentle touch, Dr. Lackey has a true knack for working with families and children. She looks at each tooth as a small work of art and gives every procedure—no matter how big or small—her complete time and attention.
A graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill School of Dentistry, Dr. Lackey earned her undergraduate honors degrees at NC State. She is also a member of the North Carolina Dental Society and the American Dental Association. Dr. Lackey’s chosen area of concentration is the prevention of dental disease in families and children, with a recent concentration in HealthyStart.
Dr. Lackey enjoys spending time with her husband, Matthew, twin daughters, Oliva and Eliza, and the family’s two Yorkshire Terriers (just ask her about Deputy and Sheriff). She spends her free time sewing, reading, and hiking.
